Mechanical Courses
The Hydraulics and Pneumatics courses employ a large range of industrial components and candidates build circuits using these so that they learn how to read the diagrams properly and fault-find when things don't go according to plan. On the Mechanical Maintenance courses, we use custom-made alignment rigs for aligning Vee belts, pulleys, chains, transmission belts and conveyor belts. A range of gear boxes, pumps, bearings and gaskets are used. The Operators Skills course is intended for people with no assumed skills so it begins with how to use the tools properly and progresses towards how to isolate and perform some first-line maintenance tasks like adjusting mechanisms etc. The Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Line Breaking courses are all focused on the dangers of working with these systems and how to perform tasks like isolating pressurised pipework, diagnosing AC faults and removing and replacing faulty taps, thermostatic valves etc.

Electrical Courses
On the Electrical Maintenance Skills courses, candidates learn about the relevant electrical principles, the legal issues, the dangers and then go on to learn how to terminate cables, read industrial circuit diagrams, use multimeters, insulation testers, voltage testers and proving units etc. The key skill on these courses is being able to isolate three phase systems safely and perform first-line maintenance like replacing motors and sensors.

Process Courses
Suggest this intensive topical program to electronic and instrumentation technicians, as well as electricians already working with process control equipment who need to upgrade their skills. Trainees learn everything from systems operation to maintenance procedures to troubleshooting with the process control training program. As a prerequisite, students should be proficient in mathematics through algebraic equations, and have a basic, working knowledge of the principles of electricity, test equipment, electronic components, circuits, and troubleshooting. Upon completion of the process control training program, they'll be able to:
  • Relate the role of the controller in a process control system.
  • Describe how the various solid state logic systems are used in industrial control applications.
  • Describe temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, weight and level applications, measurement, and control techniques.
